Petition to remove Amy Lamé as Night Czar, and the role to be re-evaluated.

Amy’s response to Covid-19 has been extremely disappointing, and has not inspired any confidence in why she receives a salary of £83,169.
- There has been very little press or media coverage featuring her, at a time that our Industry really needs vocal, visible and powerful leaders.
- I have only seen Amy mention one venue gaining financial support; the Royal Vauxhall Tavern.
- Due to the lack of media attention and voice, it’s hard to see that she really understands the far-reaching implications of the Lockdown in the wider music and arts scene surrounding nightlife; from festival promoters, agents, artists to the whole infrastructure supply chain.
- The role is a missed opportunity to unite the members of various industry organisations in London; such as the NTIA, AFEM, UK Music, Music Venues Trust, Face The Music, Arts Council England and many more.
In our opinion, this tough situation has possibly highlighted where the role itself needs to be re-evaluated.
This petition is for the role to be abolished, or for Amy to be replaced with someone that will take a far more active role as a defender and supporter for nightlife as well as London’s music festivals and wider music scene, as a crucial and vibrant part of London’s arts and culture landscape.
In our opinion the right candidate would show innovation, creativity and leadership in both nightlife and it’s connection to the wider music industry; for example exploring options such as public open space being used more freely for arts, entertainment and festivals or to push for the temporary use of vacant buildings for community or cultural use.
