Our efforts to pause the demolition of the Platt Watters Complex have failed. What's we've discovered in this setback is a growing consensus that change is wanted and needed. We've also seen the beginnings of a grassroots effort to lead that thoughtful evolution.
In the coming weeks myself and others will continue to evaluate the reasons why normal processes were not not followed, state laws not adhered to, and open meeting laws possibly violated.
I encourage you to demand more of the East Providence local government. East Providence is not social club with loose suggestions of ways to keep members engaged. We are a city of nearly 50,000 people and annual budget of close to $200 million. Demand professional representation of your interests with accompanying processes that reflect an understanding of the complexities that come with a community like East Providence.
Keep up the good fight.
