Thank you for signing the petition to save our St. Augustine history. As we learned from the meeting last week, there are many from outside St. Augustine that are trying to influence the Council to wipe out part of our history and the memorials to many of our families. In the last few weeks, several other communities have sucumbed to outside pressure that has resulted in the removal and as many saw ini Manatee County, the destruction of another historic war veterans memorial. We're going to need to unify to defend our city's history from these destructive forces, and communicate our message loudly with our elected officials - to resist those who want to wipe out the 'offensive' parts of our history. Over the coming days weeks, updates will be posted to the petition with steps we can take to protect our history and heritage. Please participate as much as you can. Please start reaching out to the City Council members. A snail mail written letter is preferable. Mail to: PO Box 210, St. Augustine, FL32085-0210 Fax: 904-825-1096 You can also call them direct 904-825-1006 They are: Nancy Shaver, Mayor Todd Neville, Vice Mayor Roxanne Horvath, Commissioner Leanna Freeman, Commissioner Nancy Sikes-Klline, Commissioner We will need to raise some funds in a campaign to confront this, more information forthcoming. Also, based on reports from other communities, we may need to work with law enforcement to increase patrols to prevent vandalism If you're interested in helping with this please or if you are in direct communication with law enforcement leadership, please send an email to: floridasshe@gmail.com Finally, please continue to ask family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to promote this petition to get as many signers as possible! -Thank you!
