Approve the Science Center's Purchase of the Creative Senior Center on August 26th

Approve the Science Center's Purchase of the Creative Senior Center on August 26th
The Issue
For 25 years the Emerald Coast Science Center has been inspiring interest in science in our young people with the support of the City of Fort Walton Beach. As a result of the City's decision to no longer subsidize the Science Center in our current location on the Fort Walton Beach Landing we are having to move to a new location. We have negotiated to purchase the former Creative Senior Center with the City's real estate agent and the terms now must be approved by the City Council. A pivitol provision in the negotiated terms is that the City provide the Science Center with seller financing, just as they did in the sale of the Chester Pruitt Recreation Center to Gregg Chapel AME. Without seller financing through the City, we will not be able to purchase the property.
By signing our petition you will be notifying the City Council members that you want the them to agree in their council meeting on August 26, 2014 to the negotiated terms for the purchase of the Creative Senior Center.
