This afternoon, the Budget Committee of the Board of Supervisors voted 3-0 to delay until February 2 consideration of the proposed 711 Post Street shelter. This delay is an important victory that will give us four more weeks to organize and to try to convince Mayor Breed and the Board of Supervisors that there is a better use for the former youth hostel at 711 Post Street.

Thank you to Supervisor Aaron Peskin for advocating for our neighborhood before the Budget Committee; to Supervisors Haney, Mar and Safai for listening to our arguments; and to all of you who wrote to the members of the Budget Committee and who spoke at today’s hearing. Supervisor Safai mentioned during the meeting that he had received over 100 letters from our community opposing the shelter.

While we continue to work to oppose the proposed 711 Post Street shelter, we also are launching the LOWER NOB HILL NEIGHBORHOOD ALLIANCE which will advocate for years to come to protect and celebrate Lower Nob Hill’s people, historic buildings, and dense and diverse urban vibe that has defined what it means to be a San Franciscan for more than a century. Check out our website -https://lowernobhill.org and please follow us on twitter - https://twitter.com/lower_nob THANK YOU AGAIN!
