DiscoverPB and BeautifulPB have been working together with other PB community members to move the location of our Tuesday Farmers Market from Bayard St to Garnet Ave. We believe a more prominent location in our commercial core will increase business at the market, while also improving bike and pedestrian safety on one of our most dangerous corridors. Despite years of working with City and MTS staff to address all their concerns about the potential move, we are continuing to get pushback. We need our community, who has consistently said they support the farmers market move, to hold our elected officials accountable for this delay. Our community has been working with the City and MTS for over three years to move our neighborhood Farmers’ Market to a more prominent location on Garnet Avenue between Cass Street and Mission Boulevard. This move would not only increase the market's visibility, but also promote our community's long-term goals to create a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly business district and improve bike and pedestrian safety in Pacific Beach. Further, moving the farmer's market directly supports the performance goals of the Pacific Beach Eco-District, the City of San Diego’s Climate Action Plan, and the City's Vision Zero initiative. Moving the Pacific Beach Tuesday Farmers’ Market to Garnet Avenue has been explicitly supported by the Pacific Beach Community Planning Group, the Pacific Beach Town Council, DiscoverPB, BeautifulPB, and business owners along the affected streets, along with hundreds of other members of the community.
