Toronto demonstrates its neglect towards homeless people in this pandemic.

Around the world cities are turning to hotels to protect homeless people from COVID-19. In Toronto the city is only looking at hotels for recovery after they are infected. The city's own predictions are that Toronto could see 800 to 1,200 people in the homeless population testing positive for COVID-19 *at any given time*. Many are vulnerable due to the harsh conditions of homelessness, chronic health conditions and age.

There is no 6' of social distancing spacing in a city shelter. That would mean one person would have a 16' by 18' space. That would mean no bunk beds. This is Day 18 of the pandemic and neither measure has been implemented or attempted.

There is not way to 'stay home' if you are in a homeless shelter.

We must convince Mayor John Tory, Chief Matthew Pegg, Dr. Eileen de Villa, Board of Health Chair Joe Cressy and your city councillor that hotels or empty student residences are the emergency solution needed to protect people.

"Some charities are distributing tents to Toronto’s homeless, encouraging them to camp out in the city’s ravines rather than take their chances in its crowded shelter system where officials confirmed Friday that four people have now tested positive for COVID-19.".....

"Advocates for the homeless say the city needs to do much more and quickly, or it will face an outbreak that could race through the tight quarters of its shelters, which have been jammed for years and together usually house more than 7,000 people a night."
