Thanks for your involvement. The number of signers over the weekend is encouraging, but — with construction fences already in place — it's also important to contact the decision-makers directly and politely urge them to block the imminent demolition of the Fleisher Pavilion in Columbus Square. Please follow up with calls, emails and letters to:

Mayor Jim Kenney, (215) 686-2181 james.kenney@phila.gov
Kathryn Ott Lovell, Parks Commissioner, (215) 683-3666 kathryn.ott.lovell@phila.gov
Councilmember Mark Squilla, (215) 686-3458 mark.squilla@phila.gov
Columbus Square Advisory Council, (215) 685-1890 info@mycolumbussquare.org

A couple points: The plan in place was formulated 5 years ago and then put on the shelf while funding was sought. Some contend that to block the demolition of the pavilion at this late stage would set back execution of the park improvements by years. That needn't be the case. The pavilion itself occupies such a minuscule piece of the park footprint that it can easily be worked around without significantly altering the overall design. [The pavilion is the small white spot near the lower-right corner on the aerial view above.]
