Fireworks in Fresno further damage fragile air quality, cause household pets anxiety and often cause them to runaway, disturb and retraumatize small children, persons with medical psychological conditions and Veterans--and cause structure fires and grass fires. Igniting fireworks, especially during our severe droughts, demonstrates a lack of concern for neighbors-and the quality of life in Fresno.   

Fireworks-both "safe & sane" and "illegal" cost precious City $ on fire prevention, animal services, emergency medical care and disturb the quality of life in EVERY neighborhood in Fresno.  Lack of sleep over prolonged periods of time due to firework's noise and smoky after effects impacts our City's workforce and productivity. People literally fear the onslaught of explosives before, during and after EVERY holiday on the calendar.  Fresno has become a city of unabated noise.   

Since fireworks are "legal" in Fresno County, the City of Fresno must establish an ordinance, with fines and penalties, which would PROHIBIT the use of fireworks at all times, with the exception of specific designated HOLIDAYS, such as New Year's Eve, July 4 and Mexican Independence Day.  

The health and safety of ALL Fresno residents is negatively impacted by fireworks, which seem to be exploding more and more frequently, and in some neighborhoods, daily and nightly.  It's time for Mayor Dyer and the Fresno City Council to STOP the costly and damaging use of fireworks. #STOPTHEBANGFRESNO
