Carousel Pony Removed from Kelly Miller Circus

It's been a while since we have posted an update on the Kelly Miller Circus, but here is the latest development, which proves, without a doubt, that the animals of the Kelly Miller Circus are NOT receiving proper care. To date, we have not received a response from Mayor Gilfoy nor any officials of Clinton, IN., so we will use this documented evidence to continue our efforts in urging the city of Clinton to ban performing animal exhibitions. Horses and ponies are not protected under the USDA's Animal Welfare Act (AWA), so the USDA did nothing with our complaint. Because of this, we reported our concerns to PETA. Yes, we are aware that PETA is a controversial organization, and while we don't agree with everything they do, they were the tool that we needed to use to get help for the pony and it paid off. PETA has been investigating our concerns of this pony's hoof care since we reported it in May, following up with local law enforcement agencies as the Kelly Miller Circus travels from state to state. The pony, named Miley, was finally "taken out of service" by Animal Control authorities in Independence, Kentucky due to being foundered. She has advanced laminitis (the attached link explains what this is). This pony has been in severe pain for months, yet the Kelly Miller Circus ignored the issue and continued to drag her across the country and force her to give rides. Had we not gone to the circus to observe the animals in Clinton, IN on May 8, 2017, Miley would still be suffering in pain.
