We hope that you can take the next step in making our streets safer around our schools . . .
Tomorrow the SM City Council will consider whether to rip out the bike lanes on Humboldt Street next to San Mateo High, College Park Elementary, and San Mateo Adult Schools and Turnbull Preschool (6,000 students). The bike lanes are in North Central, the most dangerous neighborhood in San Mateo for people on foot and bike. This is also an equity priority community, with 20% of households that don't own an automobile (likely due to the high cost). The cost of the project could be up to $4 million, money which could be used for other higher priority projects while the City faces a budget deficit.
Please attend tomorrow's Monday, February 3 Council meeting at 7p at City Hall in San Mateo (or via Zoom via this link) and give a public comment in support of the bike lanes. For more info and to help save the bike lanes:
- RSVP for the meeting
- Sign the petition to Council
- Vote in the current poll in the San Mateo Daily Journal
Thanks for helping again to make the streets safe for kids who walk and bike to school.
