Divest LALos Angeles, CA, United States

Dec 6, 2017
Greetings friends! We're organizing a FLASH MOB to create a massive visual spectacle to generate publicity and awareness for the City of Los Angeles' upcoming divestment vote from Wells Fargo!
On Monday, Dec 11th, we are calling on our friends, supporters and allies to show up at 12pm at Grand Park, on the east lawn, directly in front of LA City Hall. We’re mobilizing to create a massive human chain to spell out the word ‘DIVEST’ that can be seen from aerial view!
Robert Kennedy Jr., and Francis Fisher are both confirmed speakers at the rally, with more speakers TBA!!!
Please help us spread the word by signing up for our Thunderclap campaign! We need your help to reach 100 supporters by Friday. Support the event via your Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr accounts:

In June 2017, the grassroots Divest LA movement successfully persuaded LA City Council to withdraw over $40 million in investments from Wells Fargo: a financial institution known for its legacy of funding the DAPL and KEYSTONE pipelines, harming customers through fraudulent accounts, and predatory lending and foreclosures.
This upcoming week, LA City Council will vote on the Request for Proposal (RFP) banking contract which will DISQUALIFY Wells Fargo from the City's commercial banking services because of the bank's downgraded Federal Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) rating.
Upon a passing vote, Los Angeles City Council will send a clear message to Wall Street banks of their commitment to moving towards a cleaner, healthier environment and a socially responsible city.

Donald Trump's announcement to slash the size of the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase monuments in Utah is an attack on tribal sovereignty and environmental protections. The planned reduction is the largest elimination of protected land in American history, an act intended to make way for drilling oil and mining uranium.
With the current direction of federal policy it is more important than ever that local governments act in the public interest to DIVEST from banks profiting off the repression of indigenous rights, DIVEST from banks financing fossil fuel corporations, DIVEST from banks targeting low income communities, and DIVEST from banks contributing to the destruction of our environment.
