We the undersigned are opposed to the proposed homeless shelter at the Holiday Inn Express in Maspeth, Queens. Our community has been adversely affected by the Pan Am Hotel on Queens Blvd becoming a homeless shelter. We have had to deal with break-ins, drugs, and junkies pan-handling on the LIE service road. We have had our fair share of homeless shelters set up in close proximity of our neighborhood. Crime has risen dramatically in our neighborhood. Our cars are ransacked at night. Random people are smoking pot in our yards. While others sleep and urinate on the steps of our senior center. This shelter will be near several schools and a park that serves neighborhood children. This shelter does not constitute an emergency. Please don't allow the de Blasio administration to do this.
