We need your help again in ensuring that the City of San Mateo does everything possible to guarantee a new ice rink on the Peninsula.
Next Tuesday, the San Mateo Planning Commission will review SPI's offer of $8 million in exchange for an agreement to tear down the current rink and change the zoning to retail. Your support will be vital in ensuring that the City use this money for a new ice rink, even if that rink is not located in San Mateo (e.g., the current Burlingame proposal). As you are well aware, our group has been working for four years to reopen the Bridgepointe ice rink or allocate sufficient funds to construct a new rink in its place. Without your ongoing support, we would not have gotten SPI to their current $8 million offer. We must continue to fight, however, to ensure our efforts result in a new rink on the Peninsula. This $8 million is vital to the construction of a new rink in Burlingame.
