Thank you to the dozens of ice rink supporters that came out last night to speak in favor of the nonprofit ice rink proposal in Burlingame. Thanks to your attendance and emails, we convinced the City Council to hold off on City staff's recommendation and take more time to consider the optimal use for the recreational space. We still have an uphill battle, however. Many of the Councilpeople have focused their analysis on the economics of the various proposals. Also, TopGolf was successful in attracting a large number of hotel owners to speak to Council. (The Council is very sensitive to the local hotel business given the tax revenues it drives.) If we are to win, we need to outnumber the competition 10 to 1 at the next meeting. For now, here is how you can help: - Send a brief note to the City Council at council@burlingame.org, thanking them for taking their time on this big decision.
