Dear Peninsula ice rink supporters, We urgently need you to attend next week's City Council Meeting in Burlingame regarding an incredible new rink opportunity. On Tuesday, January 17, the City of Burlingame will evaluate a proposal to build a state of the art, two sheet ice rink right off of 101 at Anza . We especially need Burlingame residents to attend and show local support to their elected officials. This may be our best opportunity for more ice on the Peninsula given the stalemate in San Mateo. The City of Burlingame is evaluating recreational proposals for the current Burlingame Golf Center. The nonprofit Mid-Peninsula Ice Rink Foundation has submitted a proposal to construct two rinks at this location, in addition to locker rooms, restaurant, homework center, and parking. (Note that the existing sports fields would remain at the site.) The City has also received proposals from golf and bowling operators. Thus, it is imperative that we show the City Council the enormous demand for an ice rink in Burlingame.
