Thank you to everyone who signed this important petition! We were happy to see that the petition got some media attention this morning. The City of Charlottetown has said that a bylaw banning these specific images would not stand up to a charter challenge, we are undeterred. We've heard from so many people who have talked about their feelings of violation and terror as a result of being aggressively exposed to these images. We believe that it is the job of the City of Charlottetown to identify the best way to protect the public from this group's attack on our peaceful enjoyment of our homes and city streets. Whether this can be done through a bylaw, an ordinance, or regulations governing advertising, they have a responsibility to prevent this kind of action in future. As such, we have decided to change the wording of the petition, and remove the reference to a bylaw. It will now read: " We the undersigned ask that the City of Charlottetown change the law so as to prohibit the public distribution and display of graphic images of dead fetuses." We would like to set up a meeting with Mayor Clifford Lee to discuss this issue, and are seeking several interested people to prepare for this meeting.
