ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS is going on in Jax Beach & most people that live here have No idea because it is swept under the (road) Rug! Despite our 100k Sea Turtle petition for Jax Beach on change.org most people are still uninformed or don't care in Jax Beach area. When nest 37 hatched, an entire clutch of baby Sea Turtle went the wrong way and some even ended up on 1st Street, far away from their ocean home. Most recently when nest 49 hatched the babies also went the wrong way. Again we witnessed disoriented baby Sea  Turtles walking down 1st street & almost making it to 2nd street using 16th Street North!! A COJB Building Code employee found one baby hatchling as a cat was playing with it on the street. This is truly Disturbing on so many levels because of the COJB & their ILLEGAL Lights on the shoreline. The very obvious problem is an outdated, poorly worded, weak Sea Turtle Lighting Ordinance, that does not provide mandated protection for the babies or nesting mothers. Sadly, this will continue to happen every time until something is CHANGED! #LightPollution will hurt & can kill these precious babies hatchlings every chance it gets!
