The people demand the removal of Chief Mark Chase in the wake of his deplorable remarks regarding the hanging of Cassandra Merlin's son. The remarks normalizing, excusing and reducing the seriousness of this crime is no less than inexcusable and beneath the position of Police Chief. If this is the message you want the public to hear, putting the life of a racially influenced attempted murderer over the life of a minority child, the state and governing bodies should be ashamed of themselves. The concern, justice and future should be for the victim and not the perpetrator. The protection should be for the victim, not the perpetrator.
