It’s official! We have reached 10,000 signatures from NYC families from all five boroughs.
Now what?!
First, the good news: our petition was covered in the NY Times and Gothamist, and we’ve been covered by NPR and WNYC. We had a rally on Saturday, November 14, that was covered extensively by local media, including NY1 and the Daily News. And it hasn’t even been a week.
Yesterday, Governor Cuomo began pressuring Mayor DeBlasio to reconsider the 3% threshold, so there’s some progress! But the Mayor could still close the schools any day with no timeline for reopening!
Now, we need your help to keep the pressure on...
First, please join our facebook group, where we post all the latest updates.
Politicians pay a LOT of attention to the conversation in Twitter, so please follow us on Twitter, and share the #KeepNYCSchoolsOpen tweets. If you can, take a photo of your kid going to school, or at drop off or pick up, and tweet the photo about how you and your child feel about getting to go to in-person school. Be sure to tag us @KeepNYCSchools1 and include the hashtag #KeepNYCSchoolOpen
Help us tell your story by filling out our parent advocacy survey!
If any of you have media contacts, now is the time to use them. We have a petition with over 10,00 signatures (and counting), almost entirely word of mouth - that is newsworthy!

Primero, las buenas noticias: nuestra petición recibió cobertura mediática en el NY Times y Gothamist, además de NPR y WNYC. Nos reunimos el sábado, 14 de noviembre y recibió atención en la prensa local, incluso en NY1 y the Daily News. Ni siquiera ha pasado una semana.
