Thank you for fighting to make a lasting change in our schools

We want to thank you for fighting to secure a better future for our students. Because of your advocacy, the City Council has made sure to allocate federal and state funding in the final city budget to help build intervention teams in our public schools.

This year's city budget includes $635 million for the New York City Academic Recovery Plan, fully finances Fair Student Funding so that every school finally gets 100% of it’s rightful funding, and enables a social worker to be designated in every school.

Now, #OurKidsNeed us to ensure our schools hire a support team of academic intervention specialists, social workers, psychologists, and guidance counselors. Continue to share on social media why these roles are so important for our school communities and tag school and community leaders. We have the funding, now let’s see our goals across the finish line.

The city budget also included a down payment on our campaign for smaller class sizes by pledging to hire 140 additional teachers in 72 schools with large class sizes and low reading proficiency -- our initial goal being 100 schools. We will continue to work with the City Council to demand smaller class sizes for all schools, and will keep you posted along the way.
