Dear supporters
As a direct result of your support for our petition in 2021, Canada Bay Council kicked off an off-leash trial period in Figtree Bay Reserve/Wire Mill Reserve back in December 2021. This trial period is coming to a close on 23 February.
We are asking you to please, if you have not already done so, take the time to complete the survey on the Canada Bay Council website in support of making this park permanently off-leash. There is only one week left before responses will be closed!

If you are a local and highly motivated to keep this park off-leash, please also consider writing to the Mayor and Councillors of Canada Bay Council. Some key points you may wish to cover in your correspondence:
- The pandemic has increased the number of local dogs, so the number of off-leash spaces must also increase. This also means that Council's companion animal management plan from 2018 needs updating
- The trial has been successful in proving that making this an off-leash space can be done without causing issues, for example there has been no damage to the park or surrounding gardens, there aren't piles of poo everywhere, there have been no deaths of local birds, and people still use the park for picnics, fishing and other recreation
- Lysaght Park remains unsuitable for many off-leash dogs due to busy local roads, the busy adjacent cycle path, and local sports teams very frequently using the space

We thank you again for your support - we have a brilliant community in Chiswick and in Wire Mill Reserve, and it's part of what makes this place so special!
Woofs and kisses,
The Dogs of Figtree Bay/Wire Mill Reserve
