Re-open Original Kinsmen Playground in Saskatoon

The Issue

The City of Saskatoon recently closed the original Kinsmen Playground in favour of the new "PotashCorp Playland". This is despite the fact that the original Kinsmen Playground is a charming, shady, fenced and wheelchair accessible park that has provided many hours of enjoyment to Saskatoon families for years, in a highly populated neighbourhood. The new "PotashCorp Playland" is not an equivalent play area, as it is not fenced, is near to a road, and has structures aimed at older children. The original Kinsmen Playground also has a unique and unusual maze that provides a great place for hide and go seek.

If Saskatoon is a family-friendly city, then why are we wastefully closing a perfectly good playground? The optics are not good because it appears as if the original playground is being closed to encourage people to only use the "PotashCorp" area, including its pay-to-ride amusements.

We call on City Hall to reverse this appalling decision to permanently close the original Kinsmen Playground. Both the new and original playgrounds can co-exist; they  are very different from one another, and meet quite different demographic needs. Leave this wonderful play area intact for Saskatoon families to enjoy.
