Mayor and City Council Officials, City of Southlake, Texas: Approve necessary actions for CISD to light baseball and softball fields

The Issue

CISD has received overwhelming support to light the baseball and softball fields for their student-athletes and voted unanimously to install prior to the 2013 season.  On February 18, 2010 the Planning & Zoning commission approved unanimously a recommendation to the City Council for approval of a variance to the stringent lighting ordinance for North Park.  On May 18, 2010 the City Council voted unanimously to grant themselves said variance to the lighting ordinance allowing city athletic fields to be lit for nighttime play.
If it is good enough for the City to grant this variance to themselves for recreational play it is good enough for the student-athletes of CISD who perform in the classroom and on the field thereby maintaining academic and athletic excellence which attracts new residents to the City of Southlake.
