Maximum Sentence against Christian Lentz

The Issue

On May 30, 2023, Amadeo Quindara, an elderly Filipino man and long-standing member of the Mountain's Edge community, suffered a brutal, racially motivated attack in his own home. This heinous act resulted in severe physical injuries, including lacerations and brain hemorrhaging, as well as lasting psychological trauma.

Mr. Quindara and his family have waited for justice for nearly two years while the defendant attempted to delay proceedings through various legal maneuvers. On April 21, 2025, Christian Lentz finally pleaded guilty but mentally to all charges against him.

We believe that:

  1. This crime was not merely an assault but a hate crime specifically targeting Amadeo because of his Asian heritage
  2. The premeditated nature of entering the victim's residence demonstrates the severity of the defendant's actions
  3. The physical and emotional trauma inflicted upon Amadeo, a vulnerable elder in our community, warrants the most serious consequences allowed under Nevada law
  4. A maximum sentence would send a clear message that our community will not tolerate hate-based violence or elder abuse
  5. The defendant, Christian Lentz, has been found competent by the state of Nevada.

THEREFORE
We strongly urge Your Honor to impose the maximum sentence allowable by law for each felony charge to which the defendant has pleaded guilty but mentally ill.

Justice demands nothing less for Amadeo Quindara, for the Asian American, and Filipino community, and for all who deserve to live without fear of hate-motivated violence.
