The lack of attention in serving the most vulnerable #Maui residents is an administrative failure. Due to to ticketing in other county park areas of Maui, those living in their cars have increased at Kanahā Beach Park. A porta potty and a spicket off the water main at the beginning of the covid alarm, which has since been removed, is all that the administration has done to assist this resident population.

Exhaustive efforts have been made by contacting, working with and meeting with Maui County administrative heads to no avail. The departments that have been asked to assist with solutions are: Department of Housing and Human Concerns Lori Tsuhako, her two lead administrators,  Parks and Recreation District Supervisor Karla Peters, two department leads, Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), Deputy Managing Director Josiah Nishita and the Civil Defense.

Support your #Maui residents by making emergency allocations for a drop-in center, safe sleeping spaces and transitional housing efforts. In addition, support the AF Agenda item AF-14(1) stating that there is a Right To Shelter.
