Local businesses, community organisations and many residents of Herne Bay are blighted, inconvenienced and put to great expense by mindless acts of criminal damage, vandalism and anti-social behaviour.  The perpetrators of such acts do so without fear of retribution due to a lack of visible policing, especially during the hours of darkness, and safe in the knowledge that CCTV coverage and monitoring is ineffective.  Herne Bay is a town regenerating itself through the work of local business owners, community groups and individuals but much of the good work undertaken is negated by the shameful efforts of a minority.  We, the community, can do much to regenerate our town ourselves but, we urgently need police support to curb the underlying infrastructure issues of crime and anti-social behaviour in the area in order to succeed and make Herne Bay the safe, prosperous and vibrant place to live, work and visit we need it to be.
