Allow Baldwinsville Theatre Arts to Display Pictures of Former Productions

The Issue

It has come to the attention of students that the reason why the framed collections of pictures depicting years of musical theatre excellence of C.W. Baker High School are no longer on display in the hallway outside of the auditorium is that they have been deemed to "not fit with the new look of the auditorium". This is an insult to everyone who has witnessed the tradition of excellence that the Baldwinsville Theatre Arts Program (formerly known as Baker High School Musical Players) brings to our school. To every actor, stage crew member, former or current, and the audience who supports us and allows us to sell out shows, it is a message of us not fitting the look of this school.

The administration, for years, has supported the arts program, more so than other schools around us, and we are extremely thankful for the continued appreciation. However, we feel unwanted when our photographs 'don't fit' the look.

Prior to the renovated auditorium, the frames in question sat in the display case to be adored and were a crucial part of the inspiration for the theatre program. Casts would sit and stare at them after rehearsal, hoping and working to live up to former Baker High School alumni, and then, knowing how badly the people in the photographs would want us to succeed, we would. We would work and rehearse and create art that sells out shows, brings tears to the audiences, and creates an impact in this community.

All who sign below implore the administration to reconsider their decision and allow us to place the frames that advertise our tradition of excellence back on the display case outside the auditorium.
