FULLY FUND AND BUILD THE MIDLAND METROPOLITAN HOSPITAL PFI PROJECT IN SMETHWICK UNDER NHS CONTROL. NO MORE DELAYS. NO MORE PFI/2!  Local people and campaigners have been concerned for two years about the part privately financed Midland Metropolitan Hospital project in Smethwick, particularly the Private Finance Initiative element (renamed PF2) and its impact on costs for NHS and health and social care provision in the area. Never did we realise the construction firm Carillion would crash so spectacularly in Jan 2018 leaving the hospital half built. Now the bankers have pulled the plug on the finance and the Treasury have scrapped the PFI contract, leaving our new hospital in limbo until 2022. Six months on with no answers from the Treasury, health ministers or the Government, we say to the new Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, his Minister of State, Stephen Barclay, and Liz Truss, Chief Secretary to the Treasury:  FULLY FUND THE MIDLAND MET HOSPITAL AND RUN IT PROPERLY UNDER GOVERNMENT AND NHS CONTROL! The Private Finance Initiative (PF2) is a disaster and is killing the health service in Sandwell and West Birmingham!  NO MORE DELAYS. NO MORE PFI SCHEMES!
