Demand Dating Apps to Create a More Authentic Dating Experience

The Issue

Dating apps have created such a simple, easy and quick way to find someone to date. Sometimes that simplicity can complicate things more than anticipated.

Let's talk about it.

What's the most frustrating thing about dating these days?

Too many dating apps or dating websites? Trouble meeting people even with the surplus of dating apps? Are there too many options of people in dating apps or perhaps it's knowing that. while using dating apps or websites you know the other person is also talking to other app users as well as to you? Do you feel like dating apps are too competitive?  Or maybe dating through apps doesn't feel like you thought it would... Is there no sense of romance, chivalry, communication or authenticity when you're on these dating apps?

While yes, dating apps do give a wider variety of users from different places all over the world, and a chance to date outside of your immediate area of living, is it really worth it when there's still a sense that something is missing? Whether its that consistent communication, authenticity, romance or a genuine interest in dating longer term rather than seeking casual sex. Wouldn't it be nice if some of the aspects we yearn for when dating returned? The romance, the realness, the consistency that was present before dating apps and dating websites?

Other than opening up your potential dating circle i.e. allowing you to date someone from another state or country, I think dating apps are generally overrated. There's little to no romance, authenticity is a rarity, consistent communication is nonexistent, and overall they're virtually pointless if you're looking for longterm romance. Unless you're good with short term dating, or Casual Sex or getting invited to some sketchy parties. Which there's nothing wrong with that. People are usually not upfront about their intentions either. There's many potential scenarios, and anything can happen whether it be good or bad.

Dating through a screen to determine if you want to date/see/whatever with someone else is a literal face/facade that you can hide behind. Rather it should be face-to-face where you can see how they behave as a person. How they treat and interact with you, with other people around them, etc.

What can be done?

This petition's goal is to bring about change in the way we all go about dating nowadays. It is my personal hope that this petition brings change within yourself to consider if dating through apps and dating websites is really the best way to date, despite its "ease" and convenience. To bring about a change within you to really consider if dating through the screen will bring you the love you deserve, the relationship you want and deserve, the quality partner you desire and most definitely deserve, etc. Will dating through a screen bring you the happiness you crave through continuously swiping right looking for a date who may barely even reply? Aren't you worth more tan that? Don't you think you deserve better? I do.

It is also my hope to bring change within dating apps themselves, in the way that they function. Perhaps it is a far fetched hope, it most-likely is, but maybe, just maybe, if we all as a collective choose to DITCH the dating apps and instead choose to date with authenticity, genuine interest and not out of convenience or just for fun. Maybe together we can bring back romance and happiness and forever melt the plagues of endless swiping, non-authentic matches, and being catfished, all causing the biggest plague of all: unhappiness.

Together, we can create change.
