I am writing to you all as a survivor fighting for two innocent creatures who are current victims of the same circumstances I was put through growing up. 

On the morning of June 9th, 2019 in the Common Park in Pittsfield Massachusetts. A woman who wishes to remain anonymous witnessed a woman screaming rather loudly at a rather tiny dog. This little dog is sweet Sugar Nova and the woman yelling at her is my mother Melinda Alston. She is a woman who is I guess... not all there. All I know is I was her daughter, I never did anything wrong. Yet she treated me like I was a monster. Well when I finally escaped, I could not take Sugar and her very handsome cat brother Simba Lion with me as my mother would not allow it. She was in a psychotic rage and kicked me out at 17. I cried cause I knew me being gone would mean those sweet babies would get it next... I wanted to be wrong I really did. But I had witnessed my mother chasing Simba around the house with a broom cause he had a hairball... I tried to just hope she would get better. I was so wrong....

This woman sitting in the park is watching My mother KICK poor little Sugar Nova because the VERY small Shitzu Maltese wasn’t walking fast enough for my mom’s liking. Funny how my mother claims to be disabled and can barely walk or stand. Supposedly can’t even shower on her own (her words) yet she can kick this dog for not walking fast enough... Oh and supposedly she can’t even hold a fork to feed herself.

Yet when this kind stranger told her to leave poor Sugar alone that kind stranger just became another target. My mother grabs Sugar Nova BY HER NECK and proceeds to storm towards this stranger telling her to mind her F-ing business while practically throwing Sugar at her. When she tried to grab her phone to either record video evidence or to call the police my mother practically swatted it out of her hand and told her to the like of “call the cops and watch what happens”. So she decides to record a video for proof after having to kick my mother away in self defense as she grows more outraged. As you watch the video you see my mother hold that sweet dog by the throat and swinging her around as if she’s just some dollar store purse. It is disheartening, sickening and all around cruel and anyone who can consciously do that deserves the max sentence. My mother is aware that she is mentally ill and she uses it to her advantage. She tried to cover her tracks as well by first threatening the kind stranger if she called the police. The she went on Facebook and told everyone the video was photoshopped and edited (HA).

Then the worst... days after it happened the video was circulated to me. Thankfully not on my birthday when it happened because my birthday present to myself would have been beating her the way she beat me and those pets. & I took immediate action. My Aunt and I got together with the police and crisis and tried to section my mother so we could get Simba and Sugar safe. But she “was sane” cause I came out of hiding to take this monster down and so she was just “so happy to see her baby girl” blah blah blah. Here came the manipulative tactics to fool everyone of her sanity. You all know the abuser ways. Their property is their most prized possession until they are behind closed doors. We just all happened to get lucky and she showed her true colors in public and on video. Do you know what excuse she gave us for why she was so violent and grabbed Sugar by the neck? Because she was “removing a tick”.

I know basic laws.

She had Motive: It being my birthday and I’m her property and I’m not around anymore to give HER attention on MY birthday. I mean it is the day she gave birth so it should be all about her and everyone bow down to her right??? But who is around to take all her emotions so she doesn’t have to actually feel them? Her other property piece sweet Sugar. So who is going to take that anger? Where will my mother get that love that she knows Sugar will give her even if she treats her like garbage because Sugar is such a good dog. Just like I loved my mom for so long despite her treating me like garbage. Because I was a good daughter. 

The Cover Up: The threats, the lies, the Facebook post, and as of today? The phone interview. It’s almost funny to watch a psychopath’s story collapse all around them. 

& the most sadistic part.. every monster keeps a trophy.. even if it’s still alive. So to solidify that Sugar was “just fine” she brings her down to show my aunt, the cops, crisis and I. She is terrified and runs from my mother immediately and right into my Aunts arms. That sweet puppy look of please save me from her.

Please.

She has mats, is dirty, malnourished, underweight and seemed to have worms (not confirmed) by how she was dragging her butt across the porch. It was my mother’s way of showing us “haha I abused her on video, talked to the cops about it and I still get to keep her.” It was the most cruel thing to do to that poor dog and us. The worst of all of this is after everything Sugar shows zero signs of aggression. A true sign of the horrible things my mother has done to her to get me to submit. 

So I am calling for my mother Melinda Alston to be charged with animal cruelty and for her to receive the maximum penalty of 7 years in a Massachusetts State Prison AND a $5,000 fine. Please sign this petition and help make sure my mother is punished as much as she can for her crimes. Help save two little fur babies lives and give them a chance to spend the last of their lives happy as can be frolicking through grass and rolling in catnip. Please spread this everywhere.

 As I stated above I am HER DAUGHTER who had lived with her for years. She has been violent towards me both physically and mentally. She verbally abuses anyone who doesn’t cater to her constantly and she always makes herself the victim. I mean in the phone interview there’s clear video of her abusing Sugar Yet she cries that she’s getting called an animal beater. I have witnessed her scream at Sugar for not being fast enough going up the stairs when her legs are so small....Now she has transferred all that violence to small animals who cannot even speak for themselves let alone defend. So we must be the ones to speak up and defend them.
