Lowering the requirements will allow many of the incredible non-profit organizations to generate better awareness and publicity for their cause as well as help create a targeted revenue stream by those people that want another way to show pride and support for the causes they champion.  

The Nantucket License Plate Committee started this petition to allow child centered non-profits on Nantucket to increase their funidng opportunitites while at the same time allowing Massachusetts Residents who love Nantucket to show their pride & support - all while the children of the island benefit.  Partnering organizations such as Nantucket Community Sailing​,  Nantucket Boys & Girls Club​, Small Friends, the Lighhouse School and the High School Boosters Organization will benefit directly as they are helping the process.  The project will also see a portion of the funds collected be distributed to the Community Foundation of Nantucket to distribute specifically to Nantucket's child centered non-profits.
