Maryland Governor Wes Moore Needs to Resign... Marylanders Deserve Better!
The Issue
Maryland is the only state in the nation proposing new income tax increases in 2025. New York is having some similar discussions but the governor there has expressed resistance. Many other states are implementing ways of reducing taxes on their citizens. In Florida, the governor has proposed the complete elimination of property taxes. As a concerned life-long citizen of Maryland, we strongly disagree with Governor Wes Moore's half-baked plan of proposing even Moore tax hikes for all Marylanders in 2025.
Since taking office, Maryland has become one of the highest taxed states in the USA, ranking 4th in the nation. This massive increase in our tax burden is crippling Marylanders and will push the wealthier residents out of our state since they have the means to move elsewhere, leaving the remaining Marylanders to shoulder these excessive, exorbitant and outrageous tax and fee hikes.
The proposed 2025 tax hikes, in addition to the already high tax climate, are indicative of an unfortunate trend - what has been termed the 'Californification' of Maryland. Such taxation systems can jeopardize the economic wellbeing of a state, and in our case, threatens to drive away businesses and individuals who contribute most to our vibrant economy.
We urge our fellow Marylanders to stand against these further tax increases; Maryland had 338 new or increased taxes and fees in 2024 alone. Have your property tax assessments, vehicle registration fees and BGE bills gone up recently? Maryland is on a path to being the #1 highest taxed state in the nation thanks to the 'spendthrift' residing at 100 State Circle, Annapolis, MD 21401.
A governor should strive towards managing the state’s budget responsibly and not resort to overspending and fiscal mis-management. Our future should not be burdened with the unsustainable financial policies of 'Guv Spend Moore'. We implore Governor Moore to reconsider his reckless position on the proposed tax and fee hikes in light of the financial strain that all of his monetary impositions are already adding to Maryland's residents.
