Please hire a new editor and a new writer on the monthly Spider-Man comics
The Issue
Fans of the current "The Amazing Spider-Man comics" are upset that editor Nick Lowe and writer Zeb Wells broke up Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson, had Peter work for Norman Osborn/the original Green Goblin (the man who tried to kill Mary Jane, kidnapped and faked the death of Peter's Aunt May, and who murdered several of Peter's loved ones, including girlfriend Gwen Stacy, his clone Ben Reilly, and his baby daughter May), and Mary Jane is now with a man named Paul Rabin, a man who literally committed genocide, and had two kids with him before they magically faded away. In April 2023, Marvel Comics' Editor in Chief C.B. Cebulski said that it is an "editorial preference" and not a mandate to keep Peter and Mary Jane apart and not married. Wells' current run has been controversial, lacked a clear plot, had lots of continuity errors and was misogynistic in the way several female characters have been written and killed off under Wells' writing. Zeb Wells has since left the comic and writer Joe Kelly is now the current writer on "The Amazing Spider-Man" comics.
Although Mary Jane broke p with her boyfriend Paul Rabin and Peter Parker had broken up with Felicia Hardy/the Black Cat and his new love interest Shay was recently added for Peter, Peter and Mary Jane continue to be kept apart. Peter recently returned from space, while Norman Osborn was Spider-man in his absence, and Mary Jane Watson is currently bonded with the Venom symbiote.
Fans have had enough of Marvel not listening to their fans and their continued efforts to intentionally anger its fanbase by keeping Peter and Mary Jane apart and by using Mary Jane as a sales gimmick instead of a character. We, the fans, would like to see Marvel Comics reassign Nick Lowe to a different comic and for Marvel to hire a new editor and new writer that were not from the "Brand New Day" braintrust to handle the monthly Spider-Man comics instead. Fans would like to see previous "The Amazing Spider-Man" comic book writers like Tom DeFalco, J.M. DeMatteis, Nick Spencer and J. Michael Straczynski, who positively built up Peter and Mary Jane's relationship and romance, back as writers for the Spider-Man comics and for Marvel Comics to get Peter and Mary Jane back together and remarry as soon as possible.
