Good Morning All..

A quick note... I went to visit Marsha yesterday.  As usual, we had a long talk on various topics of the day. She loves talking about her days at MGM and Paramount.  Inevitably, there was talk about the blacklist. She was stunned when I reminded her that this upcoming October 26th is the 75th anniversary of the Committee for the First Amendment's trip to Washington in 1947.

We eventually got around to talking about Russia and Ukraine. I told her how we'd like to use "We're All One", the song she donated to UNICEF in 1979 as a tool to raise money & awareness for refugees around the world. She loved the idea!  I'll keep trying to connect with the right person at UNICEF that can help.

We listened to the song several times. I told her that I was confused about a few lyrics.. The next thing I know, she recited the song lyrics by memory!  She helped me fill in many of the words I couldn't quite make out...

I have enclosed the lyrics to "We're All One".   And here's another link to the song so that you can listen to the words and follow along.. .https://vimeo.com/683495480

Marsha's songwriting is one of her favorite part of her activism. She has always had the gift of being able to express her love, hope, fears and concern for mankind in verse. The lyrics resonate with me- especially the line about riding on "Space ship Earth" !!

I'm hoping that the next update I send you will be with GOOD NEWS about the "Presidential Medal of Freedom"!  Hold that thought!

Take care,

Roger

"We're All One" Words & Music by Marsha Hunt

I have a sense of allegiance to all the Human Race!.
I dearly love my country, too,- After all, it's my own place.
But still, I can't confine my love within a man-made boundary,
For we're all one, beneath the sun,
 Our Human Race.

So many systems of government. So many ways to pray!
Yet all of us go to sleep each night
and arise with each new day,
So many ways to look and speak, yet our hearts all beat the same way,.
We're really one, beneath the sun.
Our Human Race.

Oh we differ on many things, like any family.
And all family members have the right to their own philosophy.
If we respect each other's ways. we'll be safe in our diversity,
And live as one, beneath the sun,
Our Human Race.

'Send not to know for whom the bell is tolling,' -.
It's for thee!
Whatever happens to anyone happens also to me
Your ocean's water touch my shore and you're cooled by winds from my place,
And so,we're one, beneath the sun,
Our Human Race.

We're all riding on Spaceship Earth.
Our voyage is the same.
You distant stranger, I share your fate,
Though I'll never know your name..
We're born. We live until we die..
And in between, we search for love's face,
And we're all one, beneath the sun,
Our Human Race.
