Treat purposeful Star Wars spoilers on Facebook as spam
The Issue
With the recent release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there are many individuals who are spoiling the film for others. This takes away from the experience of the film and devalues the ticket price, hurting both the viewers and the thousands of people who dedicated their time and energy to creating an enjoyable film.
As it is possible to report comments that go against the Facebook guidelines, we ask that Facebook allows users to report individuals who purposefully spoil the film, submitting such posts to Facebook for review. If the post is determined to have malicious intent, we ask that Facebook punishes the users appropriately, whether it is by sending them a private message or temporarily deactivating the user's account.
We hope that this wouldn't only save the experience for many viewers who have yet to see the film, but that it would also set a precident for the opening weeks of future films.
