Hi everyone, over the holiday break I received many messages from concerned parents and educators that the process to give kids flexibility to start school is still not being followed. Given that time is running out for those impacted in the 2021 intake, I am now asking parents who have been refused, to email me directly with their story and I will do my best to get these messages.

One parent who went to a district education office to have her child's refusal reviewed was told it was not their concern and that the primary principal was the one to convince! We cannot let this continue this way.

I will try to escalate as many stories as possible. I may also consider getting the WA media to see what is really happening. Please ask your family, friends and school community to share their stories of refusal or rejection for flexible school starting ages with me.

We must have a clear statement from the Director General of Education of the Premier Mark McGowan and we need it soon so that this unjust and unfair practice never happens again. I know you have emailed the Premier when I asked you to and I'm disappointed he hasn't responded in the way I had hoped he would, but please forward those stories to me to personally elevate your concerns.

Happy New Year, I hope this is the year when the WA schooling system acknowledges the need to be flexible about school starting ages.
