Thank you to everyone who has been emailing the WA Premier over the last week. It's the last week of the school year for kids in WA schools. I'm concerned that the Premier is not going to give the Captain's call to tell the WA that from now on no child will be forced to start 5 year old pre-primary if they aren't ready.
I believe the Director General of the WA Education Department may not be aware of the level of concern in WA. For all those people who have emailed the Premier, please consider forwarding that email to the Deputy Director General Schools Mr Stephen Baxter and hope that he is able to consult with the DG. Failing a Captain's call from the Premier, an announcement from the DG Lisa Rodgers could end this unjust and unnecessary practise forever.
For all those parents who have been refused you need to take urgent action as this is the last week of school. Your first step to appeal the decision is with your district education office and after you have made that appointment, immediately email Stephen Baxter, Deputy Director General Schools explaining your concerns.

When you have your meeting to appeal your principal's decision let them know you have emailed Stephen Baxter.
In this last week of the school year we need swift action from the Premier right now. It’s time the WA public school system falls in line with the rest of Australia. Children shouldn’t be forced to start pre-primary against their parents’ concerns about their vulnerabilities.
