Petition Signatures Online: 336 On paper: 217 Total to date: 553 Contacting Council The entire application package for the proposed development is now submitted and under review by the city. According to former councilmember and mayor Bob Dyer, now is the time to begin contacting City Council and the mayor. Our unique emails, phone calls, and letters will have the most effect. A few tips for ease and effectiveness: * Be sure to reference "Hillside Cottages" and/or "68th & Carr" * Be concise and professional: a few strong sentences are more likely to be read or heard and remembered (and save time) * Try to support your position with facts or authority (how long you've lived here, how often you drive by...) * Have someone proofread your letter or email before sending * Take advantage of all three contact methods: letter, email, and phone * Contact all of the councilmembers and the mayor: the development may be in one district, but all councilmembers vote equally How to Make It Easy Split it up over a week. Day 1: You and your spouse write separate brief letters and exchange them for review. Day 2: Update them, print a copy for each councilmember and the mayor, and mail them. Day 3: Use the same verbiage in a single email copying all councilmembers. Day 4: Call the mayor and each councilmember and use the same brief letter.
