IMMEDIATE MORATORIUM ON HUNTING AND TRAPPING IN AREAS IMPACTED BY BC WILDFIRES
The Issue
“[Chief of Tl'etinqox First Nation Joe] Alphonse showed Metro a series of photographs of dead and burned horses in the fire-affected areas of his people's territories, and said what's even more worrying is that since the horses are so difficult to catch, there were likely even more fire casualties among large game species relied on for food, such as moose, who cannot flee fire as quickly.”

THE PETITION:
Whereas wildfires of unprecedented size have been burning for nearly 2 months in the interior of British Columbia, the full impact of which on wildlife is not yet known, we the undersigned respectfully request that you put an immediate moratorium on hunting and trapping of all animals and birds in the Cariboo Regional District and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District until the health of wildlife populations in these areas is determined.
