La causa
MANIFIESTO 18S - DÍA MUNDIAL DEL AGENTE DE CAMBIO
18 de septiembre de 2026
Proclamación solemne de instauración y primera conmemoración
I. Por qué existe este día
IV. A quién convocamos

18S MANIFESTO - WORLD CHANGEMAKER DAY
September 18, 2026
Solemn proclamation of establishment and first commemoration
I. Why this day exists
Throughout history, many of the transformations that have improved people's lives began with someone who decided to do something different. A person who observed a need, imagined a possibility, and found a way to contribute to making it a reality.
There are those who dedicate their lives to sharing knowledge, those who turn their calling into a way of helping, those who create opportunities where no one had imagined them before, those who defend rights, preserve wisdom, accompany communities, develop solutions, forge paths, and give entirely of what they have learned over the years.
They are people who, from different places and circumstances, have found a reason to intertwine who they are with the awakening and evolution of their surroundings.
We want to name these people, bring visibility to them, and dedicate an entire day on the calendar to them.
That is why today, September 18, 2026, we proclaim World Changemaker Day as a living date, intended to recognize, gather, and mobilize those who have decided to activate their purpose and abilities in favor of collective well-being, contributing to the development of other people, communities, and territories.
This date arises from Latin America, with the conviction that in every corner of the world, there are people who are already creating the solutions and changes that humanity needs to recognize, connect, and multiply.
II. Who is a Changemaker
A Changemaker can practice any profession, hold any role, and carry out their work from any territory.
Their identity is born from the convergence of a purpose, a cause, and an action.
The purpose guides their decisions and gives meaning to their daily work. The cause usually arises from personal experience, a reality they knew up close, a community that awakened their empathy, or a possibility they decided to co-create or help build.
The action, finally, is the bridge that turns that conviction into a tangible reality that transforms their environment and the lives of those around them.
When purpose and cause find in a person the will to act in favor of collective, social, or environmental well-being, a Changemaker emerges.
This convergence is recognized in the lawyer who transforms the law into a path of justice for communities that today are building a more dignified tomorrow. In the farmer who sows the future by preserving ancestral wisdom that will feed the next generations. In the scientist who researches solutions to problems that today limit the future of entire populations, turning knowledge into a tool for shared progress. In the artist who creates works that awaken consciences and plant in others the courage to imagine a different world.
What distinguishes a Changemaker is not the scale of what they do, but the coherence between what they believe and what they decide to do with it.
III. How 18S is experienced
September 18 invites each person to stop for a moment and recognize what they know, what they have learned, and what they can put at the service of someone else.
This is the day when each person can teach what they know, facilitate a connection that opens a door, or dedicate hours of their experience to solving a specific need in their environment. What matters is that the action is genuine and sustainable, capable of generating real value for whoever receives it.
Beyond individual initiative, 18S is a call to gather so that every year, in every city where there is at least one person connected to these words, a physical or virtual space adapted to the local context is opened. Each of these gatherings becomes a node in a broader network, where knowledge circulates and alliances take shape.
In that context, this manifesto is read aloud as a shared reminder of why we are gathered and what we choose to do with that. And it closes with a toast commemorating what everyone commits to building from that moment on.
IV. Who we call upon
This call has no geographical borders or entry requirements. It extends to anywhere in the world where there is a person willing to ask themselves what they can do today for someone else, regardless of their origin, background, or trade.
We call upon everyone who recognizes themselves as a Changemaker and finds in this date an opportunity to reaffirm their purpose and renew their commitment to what moves them.
Those who once felt that what they do matters, even if no one has confirmed it for them yet.
Those who have been working for a cause for years and those who are just beginning to discover theirs, knowing that the starting point does not determine the scope of what is possible to build.
Those who are willing to put who they are, what they know, and what they have at the service of the well-being of others, with the conviction that this gesture, sustained over time and multiplied in community, expands what they are capable of imagining for themselves and their surroundings.
We also call upon those who read these words and feel that they describe something they already carry inside, even if they have not yet found the moment or the words to name it, because recognizing oneself in a cause is, many times, the first act of transformation.
V. What we declare
We declare that September 18 is World Changemaker Day, proclaimed from Latin America by the Red PRISMA LATAM+ on September 18, 2026, within the framework of Changemaker Week celebrated in the region.
We declare that this day belongs to those who act before having all the right conditions, to those who build without waiting for someone to give them permission, and to those who choose collective well-being as the criterion for their decisions.
We declare that being a Changemaker represents a way of assuming responsibility for what can contribute to the well-being of other people and territories, under a principle of co-responsibility with the present and the future of their environments.
We declare that transformative leadership does not have a single profile, and that the diversity of those who make up this community is in itself one of its greatest strengths.
We declare that honoring this date means putting it into practice, and that every person who discovers their capacity to contribute transforms something concrete in their surroundings.
We declare that those of us who sign this manifesto do so in our personal capacity, as Changemakers, and we assume the commitment to commemorate 18S every year with at least one concrete act of genuine giving.
We declare that signing this manifesto is not a symbolic act but a public declaration of intent, which grows in legitimacy and reach every time someone new decides to join from anywhere in the world.
