The NDIS using the law in their Oppression of parents fighting for help for their vulnerable children with disabilities and the discrimination within the Ranks of disabilities by the providers....
While Australia talks about the hardship of those in Ukraine and appears to care and want to help they ignore the desperate need of those in their own country. The NDIS even hires lawyers to fight the parents of disability children to stop them getting the funding they said they created the NDIS to give to help families! They are a contradiction in practice in every way. Hurting the very ones they were created to in fact help they try to stop the families of disability children from getting the help they need. Noted in an article from Sydney Morning Herald 1 June 2022 (Luke Henriques Gomes)
" The agency running the national disability insurance scheme is on track to rack up nearly $50m in fees to private law firms this financial year, as it defends itself against people with a disability and their advocates appealing cuts to support packages." The article also notes that the top lawyer firms are being used against parents who are often representing themselves with advocates who are not often lawyers, as the participants cannot afford the same top lawyers noting "It comes after a significant increase in the number of NDIS participants appealing cuts to their funding packages and the denial of supports.
The NDIA has already come under fire for the frequency with which it engages private firms to defend appeals cases brought by people with disability and their families. These include people appealing reductions to funding packages." BUt why should people with disabilities have to defend the need for funding in court?? In the article 41million dollars spent on top lawyers by NDIS while the NDIS only gave advocates 13.1 million to help represent those in disabilities. Its ironic and despicable and this should not be! The rich oppressing the poor in disabilities they trully are wiping out the social welfare system with the NDIS money making machine in favor of providers not caring about those they were actually meant to be helping.
Attitudes need to change in the government's NDIS and how it treats those with disabilities because in the end they are discriminating against the very ones they said they were going to support all in the name of more money for the federal government and those who run the NDIS.https://www.theguardian.com/.../ndis-agency-to-spend-50m
Another mother talks about how she thought the NDIS was a beacon of hope when she received the funding for her daughter only to have it taken off of them and then having to fight it with a lawyer to get her daughter's lifeline of help brought back...where does the NDIS get this idea that people should not be helped?
The mother asks in the end why was it so hard to get that help back?

This shows our own government's discriminaton against those with disabilities because the government apparently doesnt want the vulnerable to have the funds at all. Even employing Lawyers, top rich lawyers, to stop parents getting the money. It is a blight on our disabilities system to have gone to these length to take off those who have so little already and struggle with everyday life and those parents who support them. For shame.
The recent homelessness news article shows discrimination again against those with disabilities, or those who are not wealthy, and impossibility of getting somewhere to live for a single mother with two disability children. She is discriminated against for being 1) a woman 2) single 3) not having a job but studying lifts her slightly 4) having children with a disability for shame this should not be - there needs to be more compassion and care because in the end we are all the same and those who lose their houses will be the same as those who never had them and we are letting needy people suffer more than they should.
There is discrimination even in the ranks of disabilities I found out recently that one of the day progams my son used to go to favor the higher functioning children more than the lower functioning children in special needs. How dare they - discriminating against those with more severe needs - why ? They still want to make money out of the kids but dont want the trouble of looking after them and
1) they are unskilled workers often uneducated - or those pumping their incomes by doing extra disabilties work but lack compassion or care, 2) They are workers untrained who dont know how to deal with those with more severe disabilities and so dont want those more needy kids there 3) The provider wont spend the money to train workers or employ those who are more skilled in disabilties so instead they complain about the child or make up stories about him or her to get rid of them from their programs - how nice - providers like this should be ashamed of themselves!
When its all about money in any organization you get the worst people in disabilities when vulnerable children deserve the best! It is due to having the wrong inexperienced support workers that the vulnerable are harmed and abused in disabilties services, as the workers do not have th patience or knowledge to deal with the complex behaviours in disabilities people, the mental and physical needs involved. Workers are the one who hurt the vulnerable who are non verbal and then it is covered up by the providers most times. CCTV cameras are needed to catch the crimes that are hidden.
We need to ;change this - parents help each other and inform each other what is going on - dont hide bad practices you see providers do, or abuse, or negligence instead make those providers accountable.
WE parents must help each other or the darkness only rises and our children will suffer and we ourselves as a result. All the best
