The recent article by Tim Dornin (Newcastle Herald,December 29th, 2020) notes that the carer of Ann Marie Smith in Adelaide who let the poor woman die through neglect and starvation has only been given a 5 year ban on working in disabilities for her killing of Ann Marie Smith! It should be a lifetime ban, this woman in essence committed murder if not theft of Ann Marie's money yet to be proven. What does this say about society's value of those with disabilties? - it says they do not matter and it is wrong! It was noted in the article also that a SA Labor Mp, Nat Cook is seeking to make it a lifetime ban on the killer of poor Ann Marie. What if she worked with my son and let him die? Someone elses son or daughter? We need the justice system to work better than that. It sends the message that you can mistreat, neglect and starve a disability person and get away with it. There needs to be a more appropriate punishment. Why would you let someone work again with the people she had let die through her criminal neglect? You wouldnt let a pedophile back with kids they abuse. Why let someone who hurts those with disabilities back into working with them after neglect unto death? So wrong. It is discrimination blatant in fact. The NDIS and courts should be ashamed.
Discrimination and squashing of human rights should always be held to account.
It seems that disabilities abuse and neglect and harm even to death are covered up so that the organizations can continue to make money. Even the NDIS quality commission who claim to be there to stop all this also favor the providers who are accused of whatever the next abuse is so that no accountability or justice comes. #disabilitylivesmatteroz
The thing is parents will never forget what you did to their kids, even if he is an older person with a disability now but especially if that child is vulnerable. If they are harmed if they die from neglect or abuse. It will not be forgotten not by the parents ever. They remain traumatised they are paralysed they may be broken in pieces on the floor. Maybe they will get up again and maybe they wont. However, the history of the organization will always be found out again and again. Where is justice in disabilities? it is not fully there yet not at all... I look at some like Life without barriers and they have had Royal Commissions into their treatment of their 'clients' even foster children there has been harm, abuse and deaths. Those poor little children suffered and lost out in life and no one protected them. The organization were given recommendations but never punishments. Life without Barriers remains at large working with many in disabilities, and yet was never punished for what they did in the past. One wonders how they can get away with it. Similarly the death of young Merna at Afford disabilities last year this organization has not been fined so far and no workers prosecuted, this is not right.
Many parents today are suffering and traumatised with disability children who have been harmed and abused and the perpetrators never punished. It sends the message that they are not worth investigating they are not valuable enough to have justice and that message is so damaging that parents cannot rise from the grief of the situation.
For instance Merna Aprem has died last year drowned by lack of supervision in care at Afford Disabilities, her mother notes that the mayor of Penrith is involved with Afford and said it was a bumper year. It was the year a 19 year old girl died at their centre. What have they got to be proud of? Her mother cannot move on without justice for the death of her daughter. I am sure they took her ndis funding with great glee when she came into their accommodation, and then they proceeded to let her die within weeks. They should be in prison. Merna's mother cannot move on and is paralysed with grief made worse by no justice for her daughter.
We need stronger laws so that people cannot just her those with disabilities especially the most vulnerable who cannot speak for themselves. WE need the CCTV cameras and privacy must stop being used as an excuse to not have them for protection. Why are the privacy laws ignored for trackers apps, not used against the libraries, train stations, shops, schools daycare, childcares, universities and all the rest of the places that have CCTV where society goes including disabilities people. Why is privacy not an issue there or the tracking down people to protect others from the harm of the virus spreading. Yet no one wants to protect those with disabilities from being hurt or dying. This government needs to take up protecting the vulnerable and stop just using them for a money maker. Stuart robert minister for NDIS wrote a book on following in Jesus footsteps...well Jesus did not kick people when they were down with a robodebt or ignore the suffering of those with disabilities or children who needed help. The Jesus he is following is another concoction of his warped money loving mind. He is following in the footsteps of the money and he needs to watch out as it will come back to bite him. Jesus said if anyone hurts any of these little ones meaning the vulnerable, children, it would be better if he was thrown in the sea with a millstone around his neck. Judgment comes to you. You dont hurt the vulnerable in any sector of society and certainly not those with disabilities you are paid to care for and you dont cover it up and not make the providers accountable the organization is culpable for what their workers do - or should be - in the eyes of God and the parents who have had children harmed and die the provider will always have their blood on their hands.. WE must make them accountable for how they treat our children albeit adult children. Why should disability providers have the power to let a vulnerable person live or die? This misuse of power occurring through neglect and a government that refuses to care and should be forced to care. They would not like it if it were their child who got hurt, or who died would they? Then why let it happen to others? Providers have the power to protect or not protect those in their care from harm. Stuart Robert has the power to make CCTV mandatory and bring protection to the vulnerable in disabiliities yet he withholds and the power of protection from abuse and death lies in his hands as the minister for NDIS he should be held accountable for the deaths of Anne Marie Smith and Merna Aprem and the Federal government is also culpable for allowing deaths to continue in disabilities sector with no accountability by organizations that make the money. YOu may as well call it blood money.
I would say that 2020 was the beginning of the great oppression of Australian people with deception and lies used by their own goverment, for control as they go on with their money making ploys and agendas with other countries. People here are used to freedom but the gradual use of fear and now the pandemic has seen them oppressed as they start to lose their freedoms in the name of 'protection'. Interesting that a country so obsessed with law and order does not keep law and order with providers of disability services. It is a corrupted justice then one reliant on the money made out of a sector of the needy.
However disabilities vulnerable have been oppressed for a long time now and NDIS serves to oppress more as people are not listened to when their children have been harmed. You may find people will step up when their back is against the wall because they have nothing else left to lose when you take everything off them and allow their children to be hurt. They might just stand up and fight.
all the best
