The Issue

Around 15% of senior citizens report experiencing some form of neglect or abuse within healthcare settings, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). In order to ensure patient safety, monitoring mechanisms such as video and audio recordings in hospital rooms must be implemented. Such surveillance measures could potentially discourage maltreatment, ensure accurate and timely documentation, and provide clear evidence when patient rights are violated.

Failure to allow such safety measures essentially promotes an environment where patient bullying can go unchecked. This lack of transparency harms not just patients but also erodes trust in healthcare institutions.

Each signature on this petition brings us a step closer to holding our healthcare institutions accountable for the safety and well-being of their patients. Stand with us in this fight to mandate video and audio recordings in hospitals to ensure the safety and rights of every patient.
