The ice hockey community recently suffered a devastating loss with the tragic passing of Nottingham Panthers' player, Adam Johnson (#47), due to a tragic accident on the rink. This tragedy underscores the urgent need for enhanced safety measures in our beloved sport.

Ice hockey is known for its speed and physicality, which unfortunately can lead to serious injuries. According to a study published in The American Journal of Sports Medicine, ice hockey has one of the highest rates of sports-related injuries (Source: AJSM). While helmets and padding provide some protection, there are still vulnerable areas left exposed - notably, players' necks and throats.

In light of this reality and in memory of Adam Johnson, we urge national and international ice hockey governing bodies to make it mandatory for all players regardless their age and ability to wear neck/throat guards during play.
