Mandate the Registration of All Knives Sold in the UK with a Serial Number and ID

The Issue

I am tired. Tired of hearing and reading about another young life lost due to knife crime. The names echo in my mind - Elianne Andam, 15; Chima Osuji, 17; Tyler McDermott, 17; Jordan Kukabu, 18; Renell Charles, 16; Khaled Saleh, 17; Victor Lee, 17. These are not just names or statistics but young lives cut short far too soon.

Sky News reported on October 2nd,2023 that there have been a staggering total of "80 homicide victims in London so far this year including sixteen teenagers" according to data compiled by the PA news agency. This is not just a number but an alarming reality that we must confront.

We believe that one way to combat this issue is through stricter control over knife sales. We propose that all knives sold in the UK be registered with a serial number and ID. This would allow for better tracking and accountability for these potentially deadly weapons. It makes sense to me that all guns have serial numbers and to own one you have to be a registered owner. Why should owner a knife or sword be any different

We understand this will not solve all problems related to knife crime but it's an important step towards creating safer communities for our children. It's time we move from being reactive to proactive when it comes to tackling knife crime.

Please join us in urging lawmakers to implement mandatory registration of all knives sold within the UK borders as part of our collective fight against knife-related violence and homicides among our youth population. Sign this petition today!
