Mandate the Permitting of Children at Ultrasound Scans when No Alternative Child Care

The Issue

As an expectant parent of my second child, I experienced first-hand an unfair treatment that many others may also be facing. During an ultrasound scan, I was refused entry because I had my first-born child with me. Unfortunately, my partner and I had no other available child care at that time, potentially not for future scans.

Child bearing and rearing is already a taxing journey, adding avoidable barriers is not what we should face. Being barred from pivotal moments during pregnancy like ultrasound scans due to lack of child care, is unacceptable.

According to the UK Gov Statistics, over a quarter of parents do not have access to back-up child care. With such prevalence, the mandates implemented in hospitals and clinics around the country must serve the public holistically.

We need to fight against rules that prevent a woman and or man from accessing crucial medical services or giving support during pregnancy because they are unable to leave their child behind, especially if it's the only option for child care they have. Let's advocate for policies that accommodate mothers and fathers in these tricky situations, For the health of our children and our society relies on the well-being of our mothers.

Sign this petition to support the fight against unreliable child care policies in healthcare settings. Your signature could change the experience of countless mothers and father's like me, who are only trying to do the best for their families.
