Mandate Tattoo Parlors in California to Report Suspected Human Trafficking

Mandate Tattoo Parlors in California to Report Suspected Human Trafficking
The Issue
I am personally driven by a desire to see the end of traffickers taking ownership of their victims. This is why I am starting this petition, urging lawmakers in California to mandate tattoo parlors as reporters if they suspect human trafficking or participate in tattooing that is involved with human trafficking.
Human trafficking is a grave issue that affects millions worldwide. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), 40.3 million individuals are victims of human trafficking globally, and it's estimated that hundreds of thousands are trapped within the United States itself. Tattoos often play an unfortunate role in this heinous crime, used by traffickers as a means to brand their victims for identification and control.
Tattoo parlors are uniquely positioned where they could potentially identify these marks and report suspicions, thereby playing an instrumental role in combating this horrific crime. However, currently there is no legal obligation for them to do so.
By making tattoo parlors mandated reporters of suspected human trafficking incidents, we can create another line of defense against these atrocities happening right under our noses.
Let us stand together against human trafficking and urge our lawmakers to take action on this important matter. Please sign this petition today - your signature can help save lives from the clutches of modern-day slavery.
