It is a struggle that no parent should face. A child, who has special needs, is repeatedly removed from her school bus because the driver is ill-equipped to manage her unique requirements. It highlights an alarming lack of understanding and empathy for children with special needs, and it is a situation that cannot continue.

Special needs children like mine require specialized support from those in regular contact with them, including school bus drivers. Currently, there is no mandatory provision for special needs training of these drivers, and it is time we change this.

By demanding that all special needs school bus drivers in Ontario receive  adequate training, we can ensure a safer, more inclusive, and empathetic commute for all students. A policy change would mean that no child would have to experience what my child has been through.
