Mandate Spaying and Neutering of Outdoor Cats by FOUR Months of Age
The Issue
I recently relocated, only to discover that my new home was accompanied by a semi-feral cat colony. My worst fear had come to life as cats and kittens began appearing from the surrounding bushes. They were starving, emaciated, covered in sores, scratches, fleas, and hair loss. I counted 22 in total. When offered food, they choked due to their desperate haste to eat. Among them were babies maybe as young as three months old. This heartbreaking scene underscored a pressing issue that is bigger than any one individual - the uncontrolled growth of the cat population.
The cat population is expanding at an alarming rate due to lack of control measures such as spaying or neutering. It's crucial that we bring awareness to this immediate need for controlling the cat population by requiring anyone who decides to have an outside cat(s), must have them spayed or neutered no later than six months of age.
This is not just about animal welfare but also about public health and community wellbeing. Uncontrolled feral colonies can spread diseases among themselves which can potentially affect other animals or even humans.
We urgently request assistance from federal, state, and local authorities for help with the cost associated with these procedures - perhaps offering free surgeries for feral cat colonies could be a viable solution.
It's up to ALL of us do our part in addressing this issue before it escalates further out of control. Please sign this petition today; demand change for these innocent lives suffering silently among us.
